Hi, been having trouble with my td4 being abit sluggish and not feeling right, so today after a fair drive I opened the bonnet to unplug the MAF sensor ... But noticed true expansion tank is leaking from around the lid....
Anyone else have this?

A land rover problem, freelander, defenders and disco's. New cap on flea bay sort it!

Thanks will search the ebay now!
I'm guessing this wouldn't caused any other problems other than a leaky mess?

not true...
Freelanders are known for crazing around the coolant bottle neck. change the bottle as well.

my wife's car a 1800 suffered from this and at first she said I think my head gasket has gone again ,I had a look and the header tank and it was cracked all around ,changed the tank and new cap no more losing water the way it did.

Hmmm thanks! I take it I'll have to drain the system to change the tank?

No.... Just clamp the hose befor you take it off .... You will only loose what is in the tank ...

Word of caution. If you plan on keeping FL then a cheapy ebay one can be a false economy.

I bought a cheapy one and although the tank was ok the cap was crap. I ended up using the old cap which was still good.
