Hello everyone, I have an intermittent coolant leak on my Freelander 1, I would be most appreciative of any suggestions, as to where it is coming from. I have had new hoses, fitted, should I ask the garage to pressure test the system and is this likely to reveal or result in a need for new radiator. My car has not been used intensively since 2006 when my father in law, bought it.
Thanks, for any suggestions.

Thats a K series…
When you say it has a coolant leak - how do you know this? Can you see coolant on the floor (I.e. it is dripping somewhere), or is it just using coolant but you cannot see it leaking out?

The K series engine is notorious for head gaskets failing.

Coolant leak you say? Okay, have a look at the coolant bottle itself. The craze & crack around the neck beneath the label.
Use a small LED work light and possibly a hand mirror and look under the plastic inlet manifold. You're looking for a coolant stain - possibly green [if it has green coolant] or red if you have red coolant. It can track it's way around the head to block joint and stain the from of the block under the exhaust manifold...

Maybe have a look below the coolant pump - look inside the right front wheel - if there is a leak there it may be seen weeping / dripping down beside the crank pulley. Finally look at the side tanks of the radiator too - again use a light and mirror...

Good luck
