Hi !!
after yesterdays feedback about my new motor (1.8 pet freelander), i was worried and so took it for a long drive to check everything. I actually enjoyed it and everythings working as it should!!
I just wanted to know if anybody has used a product called `water wetter', its suppose to cool the coolant tempreature by 30% . I dont need it but thought it could help keep tempreature down so reducing head gasket failure!
 
i think the problem is the flow or lack of flow, of the coolant. so even if this snake oil does what it says on the box you would still have the same problem it would just take a bit longer to happen.
 
it comes consintrated , yer only need dilute it with H²O to get the full benefit
 
I know it sounds dumb - the name certainly is:eek: - but it is proven to work - there are a couple of similar products which work, apparently, by altering the molecular structure so that the boundary area between the water and the block become more "sticky" and heat transfer becomes more efficient, thereby reducing block temperature and reducing cavitation in that area. "Water wetter" is one such product well known an used within the racing industry.

I aint used it - but I wouldnt knock it - particularly fur a petrol hippoo.
 
aye but no but aye.; if the problem with the gaylanders is lack of flow, then even if yer heat transfer is better you would still get localised heat build up.
 
seen that stuff advertised in the rimmer bros. catalogue - always wondered if it 'did wot it said on the tin ' - supposed to

'reduce engine operating temp by upto 30f'
'cut engine warm up time by 50%'
'reduce engine wear'

I fink its a case wiv a Hippoo as "any port in a storm" - it wont do any harm - an if yu can afford it, an it helps - so much the better.

freelander - yu mite find this of interest - it has been discussed before in re;ation to the KV6 lump which suffers from similar probs.
 
sound like witch craft to me, how can it reduce engine temp by 30f but cut engine warm up time by 50%???????
I aint no genius bout surely the two dont compute,or maybe its just me.
But still, gullable enough to buy an 1800 petrol gaylander, gullable enough to believe anythin I spose!
Wonder if he still leaves out milk and a carrot for santa?
Or puts teeth under his pillow for the tooth fairy?
 
Landy - if it is betterer at conductifying the heat from the block into the water, it will heat the water quicker up to temperature, and help reduce over heating, by ensuring fewer hot spots.
 
See why dont they put that on the bloody bottle, coz that makes sense to me.
Funny how you understand layman terms better than bull****.
You could get a job translatin for the snake oil people MHM!
 
BTW MHM glad to see you fixed the right hand dancer, every time i turned to the next page of any thread that you had contributed to she stopped dancing , very disappointing. But now I'm happy to see she continues, I prefer her to her sister.

Not havin a good day. Spent 4 hours at work and done nowt,came home and got 4 hours work to do from SWMBO, but least i get an extra hour in bed tonight
 
so you spent 1 of those hours being nasty to freelander drivers. i just couldnt do that.
how very shamefull nasty nasty man
