Gents I cooked my 4.6 a few weeks back its a 4.6 Gems has only done 35k miles it was a thor engine that I got new from land rover direct cheap and converted but after being cooked it has the rattle of death need advice on whether to rebuild or replace with a second hand unit - if rebuild my worry is that it was cooked very hot and I am worried that it has all moved all over the place and if so is outwith my skill set so advice offers of second hand units or anybody who can do the work help please

OK first problem if it has cooked likely to have damaged the threads in the block so its 50/50 if the block can be salvaged there is a thread insert system that can work but id the block has softened up then if scrap!
fitting a s/h engine will not gain much as it maybe just as bad as the once you have swapped it for!
