Evening all
I realise some may view this as heresy and sabotage, but just wondering if anyone has already tried to do this? Have seen it done with Defenders snd early Rangies. Our TD5 is 2003, only 135k, auto and 7 door xs spec. Way too good to scrap snd getting dearer to run by the day - ULEZ to anyone near London rules out using it as a workhorse in town. Diesel back up to £1.50 a litre so maybe worth it to give the old girl a new lease of life as an EV?
Thoughts, ideas, experiences and advice all welcome.

Looking ahead, I'm hoping that as 2030 comes closer and diesel vehicles become increasingly difficult to sustain, that the technology will improve enough and become cheap enough to make this a viable option. It could be all electric with fast-charging, huge capacity batteries, or it could be some form of hydrogen fuel cell. Either way, right now it is far too expensive, offers far too little range and takes too long to charge.
 
If you can DIY, you can probably do a low power (more powerful than a TD5) conversion for about £10k to £15k, using second hand EV components, and some trick controller boards.

There's a couple of Freelanders being done at the moment, so look in the Freelander section, to get an idea of what is involved. ;)
