I have a problem with the AC suddenly (after engine Re+Re a month ago) not working which I, with the help of Rave Manual, traced to compressor clutch relay K108 not working due to the absence of 12 volt power on WG wire. According to Rave the problem is in the wire itself! So were does this wire come from? The wire leaves the relay with the rest of the wires as one harness and disappear behind the blower. Where does it originate from?

Thanks

Before we get onto where it comes from , have you tested it with a meter or lamp to see if there IS any current in it ?

After that , there are various wiring diagrams in Haynes etc but for a quick answer , which numbered contact of the relay does this wire connect to ? That way someone could tell you its function and have a better chance of identifying it .

Thanks for your reply.

I followed the troubleshooting procedures in the Rave Manual and tested:

1-Contact number 30 (NG wire) on the relay with ignition in position 0 and got 12 volt power.

2-Contact 86 (WG wire) with ignition in position II and got no voltage. According to rave that means the problem is in the wire itself. Not sure how.

I went ahead and did a few other checks like supplying power directly form battery to compressor clutch and it worked. I also jumped the two wires on the compressor clutch relay contacts 30 and 87 (NG and BG wires) and the clutch worked.

Sounds like a relay fault then , have you got another you can try , borrow from somewhere else ?

I would have thought that 86 would be the live from the AC on/off control that energises the relay coil to switch the load , the 12v that comes in from the battery at 30 and leaves at 87 .

Have you tested the current at the AC control switch itself ? When you say you jumped the 30 and 87 contacts , was that with the relay in situ with the other connectors on ?

My understanding is that the relay gets 12 volts right off the ignition somehow. The AC switch supplies the ground (connector 85).

I will do a few more test tonight as well as trace the wires coming out of the ignition and look for a WG wire heading towards the relay.

OK , but have you tried another relay ? And what vehicle are we talking about , please ?
