Been hankering after a landrover for a while and I have taken the plunge and bought a 5 door 2000 xdi. It seems in good condition and has done a little over 90,000. I am sure as with all cars it will have its quirks and stuff but I do have a few questions which will appear stupid I have no doubt.

Silly question after having bought it, but all guides say aim for the TD4 but is the DI all that bad ? I see lots of 150,000 plus examples still going strong so it cant all be bad surely.

secondly, how do you use the little yellow switch thingy on the gear stick. do you hold it and what does it do ?

the yellow button is the instant blackout sheild for when you see someone you know and you dont want them to see you driving a gaylander..
