Anyone have experience with the company "Collecting cars" as a way of selling vehicles ?

Final shout before I place the defender on the open market

Mate I cannot see where you are getting that price from, 35k for a landy with over 100k miles on it and a category c write off, it's just not going to happen.

You've spent so much time and effort on it with the new bulkhead and chassis etc, but that simply doesn't translate into what you'll get for it unfortunately. I'd be truly amazed if you got anywhere near 20k for it. Just to be realistic, most fenderers now have a galvy bulkhead and chassis, yes the paint job is nice but I don't see it happening.

I tend to disagree with you as I'm rebuilding mine and if I had of known then what I know now and the cost and more so time involved I may have bought one already done. This one has had a lot of time and money invested in it.
The only thing that would maybe put me off was the CAT write off. Mileage wouldn't bother me as its a nearly brand new vehicle.

I can get the Cat C removed by getting a vehicle inspection carried out in the inspection facility in Birmingham (£400)

How does that work if its already been re-registered with the dvla as a cat c repaired right off. ??
Where's this place in BH.

Yeah I know what you mean, and im not meaning to sound like an arse, but that's not really how it works. If it was a 'concourse' restoration, then, yeah sure, but most people that have bought a defender and replaced bulkhead, chassis and rebuilt axles and maybe a recon box won't have much change out of 15k pretty much minimum, I don't and I haven't even done my bulkhead yet. But that just doesn't translate into what one will actually get if you then sell it.

I think a more realistic price is around the 20k mark, but i wouldnt be suprised if it actually fetched considerably less, I'd love to be able to sell mine for what I've spent on it plus hours that I've dedicated to it, but no one is going to buy a vehicle for 35-40k just because the work has been done to it, especially so a high miler. It's a labour of love, and if you go to the trouble of doing all that work, only to sell it down the line, you are, 9 x out of 10, going to take a big financial hit.
