Just coming to the end of wiring my dashboard.

Anybody know where the cold start thermostat is?

Ive found the engine temp sensor on the front of the block, and the oil pressure sensor on the oil filter, but where the hell is the thermostat that the cold start light connects to?

Or am I talking rubbish, and it actually connects to the central computer and then is projected onto the colour LCD in my dash? maybe not, it would get wet when then rain drips in!

yer mean the choke warning light? if so the switch should be on the choke cable and yer might have a sensor on the head aswell. but dint count on it

Is that the thing that looks like a little black box clipped to the choke cable, cable tied mine on as well cos the clips were rubbish!

there isnt one, the choke light is simply connected to a switch arrangement thats inline with the choke cable, and usually sits just outside the bulk'ed within the engine bay - all it does it tell you that yer choke cable has been pulled - theres no fancy sensors involved

The Choke warning light is operated by two switches
1 a switch on the cable just behind the bulkhead.
2 a temp sensor mounted on the top of the cylinder head to the front and on the left by the top hose. See item pic

Temperature sensor depends on the age, it was dropped on later vehicles, mid 70's I think

Hi,

Thanks for all the help, will have a look on the car when I get home.
Mines a 1973 if that helps.

Should the light just be wired in a circuit with 12v+ then to the light, then to ground/earth?

Thanks again

via the inline switch and if applicable also the sensor - if you wire it as you've mentioned it'll be on all the time.
