Disco2 2001 TD5, Might be nothing, but anyone else had similar issue? Is the whirring noise normal? Mostly happens when engine is cold & ticking over, if I depress the clutch, (no gear engaged) I get a faint whirring noise, which disappears when I then lift clutch pedal, only had car a couple of months so not sure if it's supposed to do it? Previous vehicles have been automatic so never had this issue before,

i'd bet my 1 month income that it's the spigot bush(very common)... a small and cheap bit but gearbox off job... there's no other cure, it usually must be replaced together with the clutch kit and greased well with high temp grease

Usually the case with things, cheap parts, but a pig to replace, any idea if left would cause any damage?

you can tell difference between noise from clutch release and spigot ,as spigot will only do it when clutch pedal is 1/2 way down and will go quite when pedal fully down release bearing would be noisy with pedal fully pressed or only partially
