Hi folks, Does anyone please have any ideas?.....

....I have just changed the clutch on my 300tdi. All went relatively well and I was really looking forward to jumping in and going for a run out!!!

However, my plans were shattered when I tried the clutch and it still is not working! But it feels like it should be doing!!!! I have replaced the clutch fork, bearing, cover, plates all for heavy duty!

Now the clutch feels better again (unlike before when the pedal stayed on the floor), but the gears just wont engage. It seems I have half a clutch now! It will ram into 1st and reverse and I can stop it moving by putting brake on!

So I know it's nearly there. Does any one know what the cause may be?

I have bled the system using a one-man bleed kit, but still no difference.

Is it likely to be one of the cylinders? Or am I just being hopeful here? I really don't want to have to take all the clutch apart again:(

Any idea's gratefully received. Thanks

thanks wiltshire landyman. Do you think the symptoms suggest these then? The slave diid seem to be leaking a little when I took it out!

I'd start with hydraulics too, check slave, re bleed etc,
My big worry would be....... Have you put the friction plate the correct way round????

Well....that's a thought that keeps ringing round my head....but I made a conscious effort at the time to make sure it was correct. Dos anyone know the symptoms of a clutch plate in the wrong way around? Are they similar!!! Hope not!!!
