Hi

i was renewing the clutch slave cylinder today as the bleed nipple had broken off when i was trying to bleed it. i removed the cylider and i was pokeing around inside the hole it came out of and i pulled the pust rod out by mistake. i have just spent the last hour trying to get it back in and i just cant push the plastic clip over the arm inside. does any one know a way to get it back on?

if you have some ideas i would be very greatful

Eeeeeeeeee I'm a legend in my own dinnerbreak.

These are some pics of how I got round the same problem on my 90. Only I forgot to put mine in before I replaced the gearbox, ooops. Any how After busting two of the plastic clips I made one from an old spring heat treating it to soften it the re-hardening it after I'd bent it to shape. Then I bent a pair of pliers to compress the new clip, held the plastic clip to the pushrod with superglue and compressed the new clip with the pliers holding the jaws together with an O ring which was also wrapped round the pushrod, then inserted the lot through the hole in the clutch housing and into its socket. Sounds a bit complicated but it was a piece of **** reely.

I s'pose it made life easier the first time round 'cos I had the old arm to try the clip on, I'd replaced it with the clutch.

These pics were taken a few moths after when I had gearbox trouble, my setup worked so well I didn't bother with a new plastic clip and just bunged it all back in.

i have been looking all over at solutions for the problem and i have seen many people that just dont include the clip! they say it was only in there to help hold the push rod in position on the production line.
i also cant see the rod coming out of its position as when ajusted the slave will always be just up aginst it and the clutch arm will be pushing back on it.
mine is diffrent from the one in the pictures, it has a little bar sticking out the end that goes right through the locating hole?
well i will be intrested in hearing your opinions on not including the clip!

its almost impossible to do it in situ.

ive know peeps spend literally hours getting it back on.
there is no easy answer. unless you got fingers a metre long and about 3mm thick.
come home ET.

Don't reckon you do need the clip but think it would make life harder by not including it.
