Hi guy's
Just got me hands on a series 3 LWB 2.25 petrol with a clutch problem.
Here is the symptoms:
When you press the pedal it feels like that there is a good spring behind it (not just the return springs) but it does not allow you to engage gear (Nasty crunching noise).
If I put the Hi / Low (Red knob) in to natural I can then select gears with no clutch like just on the synchromesh, so I think that the gear box and transfer box are all ok.

So here is my questions
1. Has anyone else seen this before?
2. Is this a hydraulics problem or something more serious?
3. Will I need to remove the clutch / gear box to have a look or is there some way of doing it in place?

Any other clutch advice gratefully received.

Thanks Slob that’s top of the list, i just wanted to see if i had missed anything obvious or if there is any pit fall's?

Ok i have now blead the clutch and i have unbolted the slave cylinder and it works ok.

Anyone got anymore suggestions before i start down the route of sperating the engine and Gearbox?

Can you remove / inspect the clutch release mechanisms without removing the gear box or engine?

Can this be done with trolly jacks (Dont want to buy a engine hoist)?

Do you know if i have to remove the seat box as well or can it be done by removing the floor/tunnel plates?

Just as a added complication it has a pto winch fitted.

Advice please
Slippery
