Help! I've just replaced the master and slave cylinder on my 110, attached all the pipes and filled up the master cylinder with fluid. I've gone to bleed the fluid by turning the bleed nipple and pumping the pedal but nothing happens. The master cylinder doesn't seem to be pumping the fluid through to the slave. Have i done something wrong??
 
disconnect the pipe that goes into the master then pump the pedal - if you see fluid coming out re-connect the pipe and remove the other end of it just before it goes into the slave and pump again - it's just a process of elimation to find where the blockage is

you sure you've undone the bleed nipple enough ?
 
sounds like an air lock - try stamping hard on the pedal - somtimes that works. catch it by surprise. yu do have a bleed system attached to the nipple - dont ya?

Cheers, i'll give that a go tomorrow. Given the bleed nipple a couple of turns. The old one only need 1 turn.

Go a length of pipe attached going into an old pop bottle full of fluid. Will that do the job?

Using Halfords universal brake & clutch fluid. Pop bottle is less than half full and pipe is right at bottom. Cheers
 
FIRST make sure that the master cylinder piston returns fully.

When the pedal is UP, there MUST be clearance between the end of the pedal's pushrod and the cup end of the MC piston.

Sometimes when a new MC is fitted it ends up with no clearance, and that can prevent the fluid from dropping into the MC.

Ok, had another go this afternoon. Adjusted the pedal pushrod so there is more travel in the piston, which now seems to have done the job (cheers CharlesY!). Fluid is now coming out of the bleed tube, just need to get a mate round or one of those bleed kits to bleed it properly now - ran out of light tonight.

Just wondering, at the moment i have no return on the pedal, in other words when you press it down it stays down. Is this ok until the system is bled??

If you still have a problem try raising the front nearside of the vehicle so the slave cylinder is pointing upwards and bleeding it as you would do normally or taking the slave cylinder off and with the bleed nipple open an a tube attached to it push the piston up with your finger, nip the nipple up while holding the piston up its hole then gently releasing the piston while someone very very gently presses the clutch pedal. Mine is a reet bitch to bleed and found both these methods work. An try doing a search on here this has come up before.
 
why does he have ter have a length o tube over the nipple and a pop bottle, ive never bothered and ive always been able ter bleed em up without any problems
 
Cos yer can't beat havin a length of hose on yer nipple. Speshly if it's held there with crocodile clips. Eh wot am I saying. Any how mine is a friggin pain in the ferkin arse to bleed an a bit of tube stops air getting back into the slave cylinder if your not quick enough tightening the nipple up
 
How do you do it without? Won't the cylinder suck up air if you don't do it that way??
