Guys,

Last Friday the hydraulic fluid pipe that runs around the back of the engine burst, apparently it had been rubbing somewhere, it was an original part on my 53 reg vehicle so I can live with that.

My local garage fitted a new dealer part at £92 with another £50 labour, again I can live with that.

When I picked the vehicle up this morning I immediately noticed a lot of free play on the clutch pedal and the biting point was very near the floor, so much so I stalled it twice pulling away! After driving for an hour it was getting harder to find the gears and the pedal was dropping even more.

Took it back to the garage this afternoon and listening to them its clear they had already bled it a lot before ringing me and Im now getting the 'we thought it must have been like that' excuses. They seem to be scratching their heads and saying that as a result of bleeding the system the seals in either the master or slave cylinders may now be goosed and its nobody's fault although Im sure I will have to foot the bill should this be the case

Is there a special procedure to bleed the clutch that the garage should have followed and could the garage have damaged these cylinders by doing it the wrong way? What seems like a simple pipe replacement and bleed is starting to look like a potentially very expensive repair

Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.
