hello all.
i have just received my new clutch slave cylinder bracket for my 1999 freelander 2l rover deisel...(i know "why on earth did you buy one those").
anyway, the usual thing happened and the clutch bracket bent and the slave cylinder exploded! so i replaced the master and slave unit and welded up the bracket with the intention of sorting the bracket out.
so i now have the bracket but wanted some advice on how to stop the piston coming out of the slave cylinder when i take it off. does it come to a stop or does it just pop out completely, losing the fluid?

if anyone has done this job without replacing the master and slave set i would welcome any advice.

thanks chaps

push the piston in and put some kind of strap on it to stop it coming all the way out but should be ok as long as nobody preses the clutch pedle

There should be 2 plastic tags , long white things with a flare on the end, this hooks into the casing to stop the piston coming out when working on it.

You could also pop the master off the clutch pedal.
