 hi i have a rangerover 2.5d 1995 it been running fine since ive had it been out all day... just moved my car and put it in to reverse and the was a noise the only way to discribe it was like winein screeching noise and and smell of the cluch burning ...

any advice on what i need and a ruff cost of parts and labour

thanks tony

what you need depends on whats wrong you can get a new clutch compelete presure plate clutch disc and release bearing for 178 pounds on brookwell.co.uk when ripping your vehicle you must leave the bell housing on the engine and remove it when you have the gearbox removed as the clutch release bearing is fixed to the pressure plate and you also have to put the bell housing onto the engine before fitting the gearbox when putting back togethe.r it is actually easy to do

dont know alot about cars ...so is it the clutch or presure plate or both ???

I honestly dont know but if you change the lot and fit new roll pins to the shaft (roll pins 53p) you will be trouble free and no need for further ripping. eventhough it sounds like the clutch disc is the problem

hi,my dad had the same probolem wid his 93 rangerover 200tdi,i was riding on the cluch that did it ,it still worked but it will eventuly go alltogether, and you will not be able to change gear, what happened is the cluch went through the cluch plate. hope this helps :)!

dont forget on the bmw engine u got a dual mass flywheel check for play as if thats knackered u will get vibration through pedal an bad gear change an the flywheel is the expensive bit
