Hi

I have had me landy serviced, the guys done a super job at a reasonable price. The clunk/lump when lifting the clutch was the ball joints at the backend, so not the gearbox after all as I feared. It is now completely silent when putting more gas on or lifting the clutch. Due to the ball joints being warn out 100% it also done in the bushes on the anti roll bar. Now 100% better drive.

The cambelt was also changed, it had been bodged by someone and the guys showed me the old belt they had taken off, if I hadnt of had it changed within the next few miles I would have been in trouble. The front section had completely worn away. Now has the updated tensioners and the other bits that go with it. Lucky on that one.

Apart from that its running like new, lovely ole gurl.

glad you got it sorted.. did you actually see them take the cam belt off?? its not unknown for some garages to have old stuff lying about that they pulll out and say "look wot we took off your car, if we hadn't changed it you would have blown yer engine/ lost control and crashed" i changed both front wheel bearing on a friends car once just before her mot; she came back from the mot saying it had failed because of the wheel bearing being badly worn... you should have seen the dudes face when i presented him with the boxes and receipts for the bearings i had fitted the day before..so beware of mechanics baring worn parts parts!

well come on slob, I know about garages but regardless of whether I wanted to stay and watch them for hours on end is another matter. As for the belt I didnt ask them to see if it needs changing I told them to change it and put the update on regardless of whether it was needed it or not, the price was agreed long before I took it in, and I was prepeared to pay it, peace of mind for me. I am in the gas trade myself and wouldnt ever dream of charging for bits I didnt fit, but I am sure there are people who would, so thank you for your advice. The belt was shown to me, and it had eaten the whole front of it off, so I am glad I had it changed. I simply dont have the time to lay under the landy or work on it myself. I was also under no obligation to have any of the work done either, it was my choice, and the bushes etc they changed are brand new, so I am happy with whats been done. But anyway I am running on now, and I understand the moral of the story you have told me.
