My 110 defender has started to clunk when the clutch is pushed in when changing gear. Checked the prop shafts and theres no great movement in them so do you reckon its the output shaft on the transfer box or gearbox?

Also when it starts on a morning as soon as you push the clutch in it moans at you but its fine in neutral.

I think the clutch will need replacing but its drives and pulls well but the clunk is annoying and would rather sort before something major goes!

Any ideas?

Does the noise soon disapear soon after you set off is it only from cold if so its only the spigot bearing dont change till you do the clutch , as for the clunking could be numerous things a frame bearing, cv play, prop,gearbox shaft, i have limited knolwedge but this is what i have come across over the years.
