As a new FREELANDER owner i got to have some of this (bite bite)
Over the last 20 years, i have owned many Land Rovers, Series, inc.steve parker V6 auto, a lightweight with 2.5 VM turbo diesel, a '71 V8 Rangie, and 2 "Popemobiles" both of which gave me trouble, and the only LR's that did give me trouble.
Anyway to complete the set, I had to have a Freelander, a S1 with the 2.0 perkins diesel, i have found it to be a joy to drive, economical, and so far (1000 miles) reliable, (touch wood with crossed fingers)
I think time will show the S1 diesel Freelander to be the best and future "classic" of the model
.
I don't do "bitching" on forums, we all love our cars, and we all have that model for a purpose, be you a "weekend warrior" in your 'camo trousers ripping up the countryside
(that'll start something
) or a person who drives into ditches so they can winch themselves out
) we all do our own thing, and thats the great thing about RV's (exscuse the americanism).
Land Rovers are quirkey, no matter what model, and as my wifes family run a 4X4 specialist garage, i know whats on the ramps most
I remember all the snide remarks when new models like the first 90's and Discos came out about them not being "real" Land Rovers, and it continued right through the Range Rover models.
But by all means, carry on with the squabbling, its a very entertaining read after a hard nights work.
