After receiving 3 parking tickets in Manchester a place that I have not visited in years I concluded that the plates of my 07 Range Rover had been cloned. After convincing the Council that the vehicle ticketed was not mine I started being pulled over by the police. I like the police, they are courteous and friendly. Block in front, pull along side, gesticulate from behind all work with me, I pull over. Each time after checking my paperwork they have let me go. So far, it has been twice on the M6, twice at Heathrow, Essex and on the M4. Seven times altogether. There is a marker on my plates which cannot be removed until that sod in Manchester gets caught. As he has probably moved on and changed his plates, I will probably be stopped for eternity. Dealing with the DVLA is not as pleasant as dealing with the boys and girls in blue. Two letters, three phone calls and one visit to the Borehamwood hell hole has resulted in my failure to find out how to get replacement plates. Six different sets of advice! Has anybody experienced cloning and how do you get the DVLA to issue a replacement set?

Buy yourself a set of private plates:doh:
 
I'd get on to GMP and find out why you've been pulled 7 times and the same plates in manchester haven't - Even when it's been illegally parked!

I'm thinking the same. As there is a marker on your car it sounds like the ticketing authority in Manchester aren't doing their jobs properly either.
 
you could go with the popular option of sticking some tax exempt series plates on it... save u some money too ;)
 
Well firstly I'd sack the fooking butler and get a noo one. must be a right lazy fooker if your having to sort all this out on ya own. :D
 
They have probably stopped using your cloned plate by now. If not, make sure that you have some idenifying feature front and back, like a sticker so you can identify that its not your car on a gatso camera etc. I know they can be removed if it was you breaking the sound barrier, but its a start!!!

The parking attendants should be checking that the tax disc corresponds to the vrm plate. This should ring alarm bells.

You pay peanuts you get muppets!!!

normally the traffic wardens note the tax disc number as well, so they should know its not your vehicle getting the tickets. but as others have said, change your registration number.
