I have got me head round the self rust proofing oil leak bit i don,t get the clickThe 200 tdi also suffers from head gasket failure , right at the back of the cylinder head nearest to the bulkhead !! You can usualy feel gasses escaping if you feel with your fingers , running from cold! Be careful it gets quite hot in this area !! This also causes the ticking sound you describe!
Get someone to start it for you from cold and shine a torch around manifold and head area , you will see smoke at the leak source! Good luck !!
