Hi there - my Disco 2 runs beautifully, but when slowing the engine does seem to make a chug chug noise before being steady when I stop - noticeable to mates as I approach the station every morning. Have been told by another Disco owner that this is normal - but is it really? When idling, engine is totally smooth. Would appreciate any views!

Its impersonating the trains, especially as its only noticeable at the station :behindsofa:

...right.

Any thoughts on the non-locomotive inspired chugging noise - Thomas the Tank Engine / Ivor the Engine references aside? Although Ivor the Engine was a quality show...

Thanks to you chaps, for all of your thoughts,
Some helpful, some less but the world needs all sorts...
I do love my Disco - it goes like a train
Although it does cause me worry now and again
It may chug a bit, and have other ails,
But thanks to its ACE, it corners on rails..
It may resemble an old steam chuffer,
But I know the old girl is really no duffer.
So the Fat Controller's twin I may be, which is all good and dandy,
But now and again your tips are terribly handy!

I'm sorry guys, last nights wine session has de-railed my ability to link up to this thread.

I think I need to coal it a day, for heavy drinking.

I wonder if the noise is being caused by the Beeching valve closing too soon.

I can't see a clear answer for all the steam/diesel fumes.

Maybe it's caused by leaves on the road ?

The early ones had Stephenson pistons, maybe they need re-aligning?
