Hi folks quick question on chip upgrades

Ive just bought a 2005 110 td5 with the air flow meter wires disconnected it also has a chip express upgrade fitted

Ive read if the car is run with the airflow meter wires disconnected it reverts to a standard default map !

My question is Does this mean my car is actually running on the chip or is it on the default map ?

Also is it worth doing the egr removal modifications?

Should i get a new air flow meter and run the chip aswell ?

Thanks

Yes, usually if you disconnect the MAF it will go back to a default map, but you have a chip so perhaps connecting the MAF will override any new tweaked default map, if indeed you have the mod enabled.

As for the EGR, what exactly are you trying to achieve? Is the car sluggish and smoky at low revs? If you do then perhaps the EGR is faulty and I don't think it would hurt to blank it off anyway.

I think the best way to see what is going on is to reconnect the MAF, disconnect the chip, take it for a drive and see what happens. Then disconnect the MAF and see if things improve. If they do then I would suspect a faulty MAF and buying one might improve things. Then reconnect the chip and see if you have another improvement.
