Chequer plate, it looks cool but does it actually do anything?

Does it add protection/reinforcement to the locations where it is attached or is it just pretty bits of metal?

Pretty bits of metal!
On my wing tops it hides the fact someone has stood on them & dented them trying to reach the top shelf, and on the sills it hides the blistered paint!
Go for it!

on the wings and bonnet it helps spread the load across the area of the panel rather than denting it. if your not going to be trampling across the front end of your landy dont bother wasting your $$$

I wouldn't be without the plate on my bonnet......its great for standing on when pressure washing the mud off the roof after a good days play.

I think its a easy make over on the
parts that are corroding bottom of
doors sills back corner etc hide it
under the Ali and looks good easy fix

I can talk as I have done alot but I like it

Reinforcement would I stand on my wings
maybe not............

its all over my 90 , floors back and front , wingtops , sills , rear quarters , i hate it.
my floors because it was cheaper than new floors and tread plate does provide better grip , wing tops because it was there already and its hiding dents and holes , sills (will be changing that soon as) and rear quarters???? what kind of protection would 2 mil tread plate provide should you 'bottom out' the rear quarters of your landrover? not very much.
it looks all nice and shi ny for a month or two then it oxodises into a dull , yellowish dirty look.

Seriously, My wing tops have been stood (jumped) on in the past and the sills looked tatty. Chequerplate tranformed the look and took about 20mins to fit.

I work with the stuff so it costs me nowt.....and i cant believe what some places charge for the pre cut bits.

I wouldnt bother doing the sills....it doesnt stop them from bending...just get some rock sliders.....proper job.

Black chequer plate is your friend.

Looks better and lasts better to boot.

Still not sure if it does much though?

But I like looking at it on my wings when I get in the cab.

I thought that was what they were for
Just sit there and say boy did a good job :D
to-day I just walk round mine and shy

Driving it thats just for the off road boys

prity good stuff.

ive just gorn and bought some wingtops in black. they look pretty spesh, covered up the dents where i stood on them. i got the 3mm, downside is if they get scratched, but thats what they are there for.
