Hello everyone. My P38 DSE lost power all of a sudden and the check engine light came on. This time took the car for a full diagnostic to an Independent with TestBook for 30euros. The first picture shows that there is no reading in the Needle Lift RPM. Therefore the injector No.4 was duff. Had to be replaced. When the injector No.4 is good, both the Crank sensor rpm and Needle lift rpm will be almost similar and not differ very much. (No.4 injector measures start of injection and in conjunction with crank speed sensor signals ECU to advance or retard injection according to engine rpm - from RAVE)
In the second picture, you can see that the Current fuel quantity reads 8.75mg/str. Now according to the mechanic, this is too high. He said this value has to be somewhere in between 3 and 4 mg/str. He said this would improve throttle response and also help in hot start. So after fitting new injector no4, it was time to re-align the top part of the FIP. He just undid the screws on the top just a little bit and moved the top part slightly towards the car and set the pump up at 3.25mg/str. And now it works great and almost starts immediatley when hot.
