Do a search on this kind of thing in www.rovertech.net. Seen it discussed there a few times by people who actually understand the workings of an engine.

One of them did a very funny mock auction of those things on E-Bay a few months ago...got loads of hilarious questions too. Think the auction is too old to find now otherwise I'd have found a link for you.

It's a resistor in a box (rather expensive way of buying a resistor if you ask me) that spoof's the ECU into permanently keeping the choke on.

Extra choke = extra fuel (but probably not actually performance) = extra borewash = extra engine wear = new engine fairly soon.

Snake oil that is best avoided by right-thinking people...

Aye its trueish, scrap the resistor!

If you have some metal, some tools and some time, you can make one, it doesnt need to be the exact shape, aslong as its got the holes in the right place.

I just bought one for a few quid for a TD5.

Forget the resistor mods , they play havock with the "air folw meter" sensors and do the engine no good what so ever.
