Hi All,
Been speaking to an old guy in the village who says you could once buy chassis kits - a set of cut profiles you assemble yourself.
Anyone remember these & can you still get them from somewhere - I feel he might have been pulling my leg......

I dont think youve much choice with a series 1. Some burk has the rights and wont allow commercial copies or something. I cant see it being cheaper or better than a bought one built in a jig.

They used to sell them for shipping, you could have it posted anywhere in the world, and then get local welders (who were usually good and cheap) to weld it up. May still be going for all I know. It came as a flat pack.

Oh yes...there was a thread about that

If it was the one where he was trying to build it on his garage floor without a jig because he reckoned jigs were only for speed...never came back with result as he got shirty over comments about accuracy...

Maybe this was the case decades ago. Richards chassis have been making and selling them for years now. Bit pricey tho compared to their series 2/3 offerings
