rite heres one for ya is there any diffrence between the defender 200tdi and the defender 300tdi chassis ? whot im wanting to know is are the engine mounts in the same place of is there a massive diffrence

turbo on 300 exits forward and the turbo on the 200 exits rearward so the 300 exhaust will hit the existing chassis mount

A 200tdi won't fit on a 300 chassis - i'm guessing you're looking at those cheap ebay ones which are £400 less than the richards ones???

whot it is james is i have a 200, and im fitting a 300tdi ,BUT i am putting in the 300 gear box as well, now i know if you fit the 300 to the defender lt77 gear box it will sit a lot futher back, now having the 300 gear box with the longer bell housing the engine by my reconing should sit some where near the 200 mounting, but genral concenes is there diff so im still going to have to move them, now whot i want to know is can i reuse the 200 engine mounts or will i need to make some new ones ??

if your going to fit 300 in fit it in correct place for 300 then all parts can be std , it will mean disco front prop ,300 tunnel ,etc but much better in long run ,300 mount is easy to make

taken the selector off the top of the 300 gearbos and done a bit if welding and made the 200 defender gear and transfer lever fit and work, i was going to sit it on the 200 gearbox mounting, but didnt think about the props? is there a diffrence tween to defender and disco prop then , btw i do have the defender transfer box fitted to the gbox

with 300 the whole lot sits 2" further forward meaning that disco front prop now fits every parts is then std 300 part needed ie exhaust system ,any pipes ,air filter etc ,you can fit in in 200 transmission place but every thing is then a comprimise

a retrofitted 300 done as a 300tdi was by lr would be my favourite,or defender 200 tdi, disco 200 for cheapest

so i am doing the right thing putting this 300 tdi in place as oppose to another 200tdi which is whot it had ??????? and ive taken ur advice and done it properly even put the right gearbox in so it all sits as it should !

more choice of used bits as more are common between disco and defender on 300 models, looks right when you lift bonnet, dont need any bodged or made parts so a new top hose is simple and cheap

I put a 300 engine onto a 200 chassis and the ONLY thing I changed was the engine mounts. Cut them from the chassis and welded a set of fabricated ones on.

Here is a pic of a new 300 mount welded on to my 200 disco chassis..... You can see the shiney area in front where I removed the old 200 mount.
