Hi... I`ve browsed around some threads, and can`t find a case similar to mine.....so here goes.
In the past few months (especially after a cold night, or 24hrs not driving) my battery has been dead in the mornings.... has always started after a jump, or charge though.
I own a 2.0 TD4 Serengetti by the way
Anyway.... I was driving along the motorway a couple of weeks back, when suddenly the Battery warning light started flickering, before coming on permanently - I was no more than a mile away from home......and literally made it home by the skin of my teeth - my lights faded to nothing almost immediately, wipers stopped, indicators didn`t work.....and ultimately, fuel pump cut out just feet from my driveway.
Upon charging the battery the next day - the car started as normal, and drove fine (no warning lights at all) - I got home....and for some reason turned my blowers on before getting out of the car. As I did this....the warning light came on, and within seconds, the car was dead....again.
This led me to believe that I probably had a knackered battery. So, went out today, bought a brand new battery.....fitted....and off I went for a drive - Again, there were NO warning lights. Upon arriving at my drive, I again turned my blowers on to check they were blasting out at speed.....but to my dismay, as soon as I turned them on....the battery warning light came on......and again.....within seconds.....the battery was DEAD!
So this evening...I borrowed a charger.... let the battery charge for a couple of hours, and started the car up - Turned on all electrics.....everything fine with engine running at idle. As SOON as I revved car, the warning light came on again.....when revs settled back to idle, the warning light went off
The car then just died slowly again WITHOUT any warning, and again, battery is dead.
I`m so confused!! Why isn`t light on permanently if battery getting no charge from the alternator?
