Well after losing water looks like I will be changing the head gasket or even the head.

Just a few questions.

Will a newer head say 15p haven't a clue what that means fit mines a old one from 1999.
What is this thing about plastic dowels can I change them if its only the head gasket or do they come as part of the head.

What's the best head gasket to get make wise

I know this all sounds abit daft but would just like to know

Joe

I believe you need to keep to a 10p head, as the latter 15p uses different injectors and fuel pressure regulater,

you can change the plastic dowels for metal ones and they dont cost much,
the best head gaskets are Elring, you need to look at the old one fitted to your engine there are holes stamped in the side of it, make sure you order the same holed gasket

What Johnlad says. Always get new steel dowels. I made my own but I do have a lathe. In fact I dont believe you can still get the plastic ones but I may be wrong.
