Hi guys
Son yesterday bought a lovely Disco 2 td5 manual 02 plate and noticed the hi / low lever knob has the diff lock fuction on it but the P O said it isn't connected,
I was at work so couldn't go with him to look but told him what to look for when looking and he has been around series and Defenders so has a good idea what to look for,
Now i always thought that disco's all had diff lock whilst it was only the early def county's that had diff lock so do disco's have them or not and what do we need to get it working likeage wise please.
Will post pic's of disco later :D

Short answer, it depends on the MY.
The early ones had the works in the box but not the control from the cab, unless you fabbed one up somehow.
Then I think they removed it from the box altogether and you had to get it from another box and then again sort out the linkeage.
then finally I believe it was available again in the last MY or two.
He can check and see if the works are in the box by looking on the top of it for the lever that he would expect to see on a Defender or a D1.
This gives more detail than i can

The sticker in the cab is a lie, mine had the sticker showng the diff lock, 53 plate but no diff lock in the box. My fathers 03 and 04 plate had the sticker but no difflock in the box. Higher spec vehicles came fitted with the sticker , lever and diff lock as far as I understand .

Early D2s seem to have come with the diff lock in the box, but not necessarily the lever and connections. A friend has had afew W regs which had the box internals.

Ashcorft have a few links on their website with good information about D2 Ctr difflocks.

Cheers

The guts were in the transfer box until approx March 2001, but no linkage - as said above.
I guess that was approx or just before the Facelift model was launched.
