Hi All,

Got a fault on my 1997 HSE. The central locking was working perfect either from the fob or using a key. Yesterday for some reason the central locking stoped working on the drivers and passanger door but works fine on the tailgate and rear doors. I have checked all the fuses and they are all intact. What could cause such a fault at the same time.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.
thanks Steve

Had the same problem with mine until the driver's door lock was renewed.
£150 and an hour to fit but you'll need lots of patience.

Yes - I had the same problem > it was also locking/unlocking itself as I drove along. I changed the drivers door lock myself with one I found in the breakers. There are 2 different types of lock > the difference being the way the wiring is attached. Unfortunately, the only one I could find was the wrong one > but, undeterred, I fitted it anyway and as the wiring loom is all the same colour coding, I simply connected each of the wires using snap-connectors. I felt I had little to loose by trying, but I am pleased to say that it now works perfectly well. It is a bit fiddly getting the lock in & out of the door, but shouldn't take more than an hour or two. Also, it is normally the drivers door which goes I have been told - I have a lhd car (as i'm in Spain).

take out the lock mechanism and dismantle it, free off the internals regrease and refit. i have done this on mine and have had no probs since!!

do a search for my posts on this!!
