Hello to all. I have recently taken the plunge and bought a Range Rover l322 HSE 3ltr TD. My wife already has a Freelander TD4 and I have already found loads of helpful information on here for maintaining her car, the most best on yet is how to change the thermostat (which I am never even going to try to do)

I have done quite a lot of reading on the site here but no on seams to have the exact same problem that I am having. Some are close though.

I have a problem with the central locking on my Range Rover (please bare with me as this will take some explaining and I have already tried some of the things found on here).

When I bought the car (Sunday) I was told that the batteries in the keys didn’t work but everything still works fine when using the key to unlock the doors manually. The doors do unlock manually (the passenger front takes a little longer to respond or sometimes has to be locked and un locked again for it to work on the central locking). The car starts fine and drives fine.

No I have seen on here about resetting the keys once a battery has been changes. I have tried this (may times) and does not solve the problem. I have ruled out the keys being at fault because when I press the buttons the little red light on the key works fine, also when I am outside the car and was trying to unlock the car remotely I can hear all the electrics working inside and the annoying clicking noise from the centre console. And when I press the button to open the boot from the key it works fine. Also the driver seat moves into position. So surly it can’t be the remote on the keys not working (can it)?! The button to lock all the doors on the inside of the car does not work either.

All of this makes me think that the driver’s door lock is the master lock and everything else (central locking wise) works in line with this (the boot works as it has its own separate system and not on the central locking). If this is the case would I be right in thinking that this could be something to do with the actuator/ solenoid on the driver’s side (I must admit that I can tell the door card has been removed so am guessing some work has gone on there).

The CD changer does not want to eject, it make the noise and I can see the mechanism moving but just stays in place (my trusty hammer might just fix that lol).

Finally when I get in the car and out of the car I am told that my washer level is low. So I went to fill it up only to find that it is full to the brim. I am guessing this is just a faulty float or sensor.

Any help and advise on any of this would be fantastic. I do have a local garage (ROEAN in Telford) who are a Land Rover specialist. But they would need to do a full check on the car and there is no guarantee that they would be able to find the problem, and then I have the cost (although cheaper than a dealer) would be quite high.
