Hi, I'm working away from home, so can't just jump out and check this myself, but thinking ahead for what I'm planning on doing to reactivate my RRC when I get home, and I want to get remote controlled central working as part of a new alarm & tracker set up. However, I keep thinking back to the tailgate, it's just a keyed lock on the upper tailgate if I mind right? Did any of the RRC's, possibly the later 300 generation soft dash models, have central locking that also covers the upper tailgate? Can anyone who has central locking on the upper tailgate post pictures of the set up so I can figure how to retrofit it as close to OE as possible?

From what I can recall, the CL didn't lock the tailgate on the the CLassic - but the 1994/5 softdash I am not sure on....Will have to quickly check the manuals...

EDIT: RAVE Shows the later classic (1995) did have tailgate lock on the central locking....gonna see if I can find references in earlier models

One of LR's 'many improvements' for the '89 model year.
As if it couldn't have been done in the first place: it's called marketing

Cool, thanks for the info guys, mine is an 89, on a G, but I'm confused why it has a key lock on the tailgate push button? Will need to look at it when I get home.

I think it's to enable you to keep the tailgate secure whilst still using the CL for the doors.

The rear tail gate C/L on my 89 classic was very unreliable even with a new unit, chap I knew with a later soft dash found the same, had to keep it locked because had his shot guns in there (farmer type chap).

Yep...from 88/89 CL was available on the tailgate....this is from the 88/89 owners manual...
