I got a 89 defender without central locking, I brought a new 2002 door with central locking, do the locks have different holes and is it easily replaced?

Excuse me I didn't word that the best way. Basically for the fixings do i need to drill new holes?
Have you offered it up to see ?
Make a cardboard template of the hole pattern and see if they match ...
