Does anyone have any info about the kinds of CD stackers that are required to replace in a freelander ?

Cheers !

Yanick.

Either a Philips RC026 if you have the R770 (tan colour) head unit. Or sometimes Alpine XQE100230, 250, 280 (Round DIN plug on CD changer)

Or

Alpine unit as in ebay link (with small black connector) if you have other HU's

Is that a round 5 pin DIN ? I once took a train all the way from Bromley to tottenham court road to purchase a pc audio cable with a small headphone jack to a round 5 pin DIN. Back here in Australia, I am sitting here at my desk right next to the very same cable. I was even going to throw it away last week but decided not to. Are you saying this works for connectivity to the freelander CD player , and could therefore plug in my Mp3 player ?

The DIN plug refers to the CD changer lead (about 12cm long). Its not like the PC / Audio one.

Looking at your posts I dont recognise that unit. What year is your freelander?? I know which changers work with Philips R770, Becker Sat Nav and Visteon units fitted by the factory to freelanders. Never seen a Eurovox??

Which changer would I need for the Becker SatNav - retro fitted mine - bought off ebay - came with a philips changer - doesn't work - any ideas?

Are you connecting with the blue plug?? It should work. I have a Becker sat nav in my freelander and I use an Alpine unit with the black small plug. Did you sat nav unit come with a special loom (that connects to a large grey connector?) if so the wiring is all there - plug blue socket into Head unit and small black connector into changer.

Steve

I think this is where the problem lies - mine came with a Philips changer with a blue plug for the head unit end and a round DIN plug at the changer end. Like this one, but without the red plugs at the head unit end.

It did come with a loom with a black plug at the end - so may just need alpine changer - but question is - did I cut off any wires on the loom that looked unecessary:confused:??
I suspect I may now need something like this lead kit once I have the right changer.
Would this philips one that has a square connector work with the above lead? (I have the cartridge for a philips).
Is there a way I could do this by modifying the connections on the lead I have and using the RC026 changer that I have thereby not having to purchase a new changer or lead?

The changer that you mention in the above text and link is an Alpine changer. This would work with your unit, but you need to decide what leads you cut off!! I suggest you have a look at the sat nav loom and see if you have the plug identical to the 2nd ebay link. (Black 10 pin square)

You may be able to buy the CD changer cable. (as shown on ebay) I have used one of these, but on a BMW plug (non ISO) - you basically pop the terminals out, replace with the changer loom and then there is a space to accomodate the wires you originally removed.

Most helpful Steve, many thanks - I've replied to your pm. I was wondering if through some splicing and dicing if I could get the RC026 (philips changer) which I was supplied with to work with the becker unit - the blue plug at head unit end fits, but doesn't seem to work with the round pin changer. Would I be right in assuming they're both M-Bus changers?

That would be the simplest method. I have a spare Rc026 from my freelander that we could try as well as spare leads. I'll try it on my unit and see what happens. I will reply to your PM later - might be an issue on Sun :(

Does the DIN plug fit in the socket on the side of the changer??

What happens when you plug in the blue plug?? Do you hear the changer whirring??
