Just about to get an upper tailgate for a hardtop 2a.
Is there a special lower tailgate that is lockable and should it hinge from the side or bottom.

Finally, does anyone know where there is a parts diagram of it, as i can't find it in my 2a or 3 parts books?
Thanks.

Pretty sure the lower tailgate is just std.

Fink Trewy fitted one to his give him a shout.

Hi
we've got catflap and tailgate on our ex coastguard series 3 - the lower tailgate is just a standard one and the catflap has two bars that lock it, with a lip at the bottom which stops the tailgate from coming down. Hubby sez that they can be side or bottom mounted.
There is a parts diagram in the Haynes Workshop manual and the service and repair, under Estate wagon rear door assembly.
Hope this helps :)

Ok thanks. Found the diagram in the Haynes.
Now realise that I'm missing the stay and sockets for the locking bars.
Can't see how it blocks the lower tailgate but it should be clearer when it turns up.

Make sure you've got the right stays for the top tailgate - they bloody hurt when they fall on your head!
