A third party insurer wants to write my disco off as their driver spun into the front of it.
I know a cat c requires a vic check and a remot, but unsure of what a cat d would entail.
I don't have my other car on the road currently so could do without the disco being off the road too ( the only damage to mine is the winch bumper and winch plus one of the spotlights) so it's still drivable I've just fitted a std bumper for the moment.

Why do they need to write it off - they should just give you a cash settlement. IF they write it off don't they then own the vehicle and you'd have to buy it back...

they CANT write it off unless you say they can, tell them to #### off and pay out for damages like a nice shiny new winch and bumper plus any other damages i.e. airbags if deployed or body panel creases then leave it at that

a 3rd party insurer can not write your car car off. you can demand the repairs be done even if it runs into tens of thousands

I'd also get an independant check to ensure the chassis isn't bent / twisted

I would also be demanding a rental vehicle, they are required to provide you with something along the same lines as you have, so 4x4 for a start.
have the chassis checked ( at land rover) and get a price for replacement if required. you will soon have them offering you something acceptable

+1;)

From what I can make out you have a contract with YOUR insurer which allows them to write a vehicle off if the repairs are too expensive. You don't have any contract with a third party insurer so are within your rights to demand that they repair yours rather than writing it off. Stick to your guns!
