Hi all

I'm after a range Rover 08 onwards. Is there a thread anyone can point me to about what to look for before buying? Got a Jaguar XJ at the moment and the Jag forum has saved me a lot of time and money. So I was hoping with your help to get myself a RR

Thanks

Search will bring up a lot

Get the tdv8 engine

Or if the budget allows... Get a 2009 / 2010 facelift model
Then you can get the mighty great 4.4 TDV8 beast :)

Nicer car too :)

+1 but they have to get undressed when the turbos fail

Go Petrol V8 - Travel in peace, nothing beats the nice grunty burble, Derv gets on ones nerves:cool:

Just to let you know what you're getting yourself into - Jags are mega reliable compared to Range Rovers!

Have to agree with you there, I have owned many end of life Jaguars XJ40, X300, XK8, some good ones too.
They never gave an ounce of trouble, seemed to have an undeserved bad rep.
The Rangie hasn't been bad either, but the cats have been kinder to me.

But it's all about the smile they put on your face, and the Rangie makes me smile every day, though sometimes through clenched teeth.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I may look to something else maybe another Jag.
The RR must sell in similar numbers to the XJ maybe a bit more but the amount of people posting issues on the forum is way more that the Jag forum.
I don't think I would like repeated issues especially as some of the issues reported here seem to be design faults so even if you spend the money getting the relevant parts changed the issue just raises its head again.
I suppose if you could afford a new one then sell after 3 years you may be ok but then you would lose 30-40k in depreciation.
Must admit they are stunning looking vehicles especially inside

Thanks

The late ones are jag based engines and gearboxes anyway
So your not far from a jag anyway.

Remember you always hear the bad bits on forums

I know a few people who have had some pretty reliable, trouble free range rover ownership
