1stly no i cant find what im asking


i want my turbo to do what it does but at lower rpm say kick in at 1400 ?

i cant find out if this is possible ?

its not just adjusting waste gate is it ??

I'm interested in this too, I'd rather like my turbo to boost up from around 750 rpm and give about 1000psi at 1500rpm, will I need a dump valve or a rotary bi supial cock suck off.

You could fit a smaller turbo to get better response, but you'd lose power. You could minimise the distance between turbo and inlet. You could 'twin charge' it with a supercharger for low down boost and response. Or you could try a 'hybrid' turbo. All more hassle than its worth, make sure everything's as it should be and in good order and just live with it IMO.

Or you could try leaving it as LR designed it and if you want to go fast buy a beemer and drive like a cnut
 
You can tweak the injector pump to give better off boost performance, and it does make a difference.
 
the cap on the top ? 13mm 25 talks ? iv done that two turns, how much more can you turn it safely and how does fuel economy change
 
I have heard/read discovery 200tdi exhaust manifolds are a t2 flange and interchangable with 300tdi's, which means that opens up a massive range of turbos really of all sorts of modern vehicles.

I think I have found a suitable alternative turbo that flows better and should pull from lower down but need to get a manifold and mock up on the engine.

Making a downpipe should be easy.

No, not just the smoke screw, that does help, but its not all of it, there are 3 adjustments, smoke screw, diaphragm and star wheel, have a look at the thread on here for more details of what does what.
and there are no specific "how much is safe" adjustment, adjust it up, if it smokes too bad, crack it down a 1/4 or 1/2 turn.
Just doing the pump makes a huge difference, its still no GTI, but its a nicer drive, less cog changing.
mine smokes a bit off boost, might get round to tweaking it down again, prolly not though, its a nice tool for getting twerps off your tail in traffic, knock it up a couple of gears and floor it, nice black cloud :D:D
 
How about this: if you don't know what you are doing, leave it alone, fecking with turbos and superchargers can do some really very serious damage to your machine... when it was designed the turbo and engine were balanced as a pair at the design and testing stages, are you familiar enough with the engineering principles to know if your crankshaft will deal with the changes?

Yeah we're talking about tough engines here that definitely have room for play but you're also talking about playing with parts of it that can junk it all together if done wrong ;)

I had a friend that wanted to fit a turbo to his vauxhall vectra... "what harm could it do if I use a turbo off the v6 vectra?" so, as his greasemonkey I looked into it and showed him the pictures of what happens to engine blocks that either weren't meant to have turbos or had bigger/wrong ones fitted.

We're talking cracked blocks, partially melted cranks, blown gaskets and all sorts of assorted nasties, think it put both of us off for life.
