To anyone who saw my posts from a few months ago, I wanted to say that the Lockdown Landy lives!
I call it that because my bother-in-law and I went to pick this Freelander up at the auctions on the afternoon of a recent lockdown here in Brisbane. It was an adventure getting it back to my house but that is a story for another day. I have attached a photo - all repaired, inspected and registered!
Anyway, I noticed that the cassette player (XQD000050PMA) won't accept tapes but it will control the Alpine CD changer (XQE100240) under the seat.
I have a donor Freelander with a Visteon 6500 CD player and I was wondering if it would control the Alpine CD changer and work with the steering wheel controls. Just seeing if anyone knows before I waste an afternoon pulling the stereos out.
Thanks!

Wow another FL1 with the corrugated iron shaped body kit. There's not many of those about.

Only some radio cassettes units will control the CD multi-changer.
The CD HUs don't.

Thanks for the advice on the CD changer.
The kids think it's "cringy" because of the age and the body panels but they should be thankful because I made it less cringy by removing the 20" chrome pimp wheels that it came with.
It's just for driving to the train station and for taking the dogs to the beach (with the roof removed!) so I don't care. At some point, it might become a classic.
