Looks like a small pipe
It would have been attached to the EGR which has been deleted, or not! If deleted, this should be plugged. It is a vacuum pipe.
I am assuming it is on the driver's side of the engine bay.

It is on the driver’s side and the EGR has been deleted, several years ago. Assume it has been plugged as haven’t had any issues! Many thanks!
If it isn't plugged I would plug it as that is how it is supposed to be left. I don't know what issues leaving it unplugged could cause, but @sierrafery will know, I expect.

You didn't mention which sort of Disco 2 you have, if it is after about 2002 then it'll be either a 15p engine or a 16p, in which case yes there will be two pipes, and I think I am right in saying you need to block both off. The 10p engines (pre facelift) only had one, i.e. like mine.
