Just off the phone with a guy and he says that the transfer box of a discovery is better on a defender because at hight speed there will be less noise and in the low gears its the same as a defender..

i am putting in a r 380 into a 110 defender with 300 tdi engine, dont know really anything about defenders gearboxes ect. Any help on this would be great before i buy it.

Straight swap on my 110 but a little too high geared with the big tyres I found

What he said. Low range is the same High range is diferent. Forget about fifth on hills though if you fit bigger tyres. Also not a good idea if you intend to tow trailers regularly.
