hi there im new to this site and i'm also a first time land rover owner ive got a 96 300tdi and i was traveling to work the other day and i was going down the motorway at 70 mph when i started to lose power when i tried to accelerate there was nothing there and stared to lose speed rapidly when i dropped to fourth i lost all power and the engine stalled when i coasted to a stop loads of steam came out from every where including the top of the injectors also the turbo was glowing orange and there was a strong smell of oil i let the engine cool down and tried to restart it to no avail when the rac turned up they said it was a possible seizure but the engine still turns over but wont fire tonight i've gone through the fuel system and everything is working as it should but it still wont fire i was hoping that any off you guys could point my what to try next any help would be greatful thanks jonny

probably not enough compression left for it to start..

i'm thinking along the lines of possible belt slip but not to sure lol

quite possibly it has as well but if its been hot enough to stall engine its buggered without a total rebuild,another engine is cheaper £500 ish
