Hi guys
Looking to see if anyone knows about towing a 4.2. Im looking at one thats been towed its thrown the gear oil out the box. Is there a oil pump in the box that dose not pump when towing. I read up that the Range rover will put its self into park after 10 minutes. Any information be appreciated thanks

The only oil pump that I'm aware of for the auto box is engine driven, so usually transfer box neutral has to be selected for towing. Others with specific knowledge will confirm or correct me on that.

Keep ignition on, the 4.2 works out its moving without the engine running and puts transfer box netural, they dont have a fuse for transfer box netural like the p38 or 2002-2005 td6 or bmw v8

Im not to sure whats happened to it. Its pushed the oil out the box. Wondering if i refill it will be good to go

the front pump on an automatic is driven by the engine, this creates the line pressure for the clutch packs in the gearbox "put simply" if you tow it without the engine running you'll knacker it.

Unless you put the T case in neutral don't tow it..

As for the oil disappearing, oil cooler cooler lines sump TCM connector seal. etc .
