Place round the corner from me have a 1997/8 Disco 1 Camel trophy Japanese import. It's got 26k on the
clock & has been used in showrooms etc so has not seen any action as such. It is stunning with all the
kit etc.

They are asking 14k for it, very expensive, but immaculate in every way.

They just offered me 4k for my 110...............

Anyone got any views?

Nige Hi,

this must be a limited edition Camel clone for the Japanese market.

I think it is not fitted with an internal full rollcage as the evented
vehicles and it may have a few accessories or factory fitted option that
evented vehicles did not have (such as front electric windows, A/C,
sunroofs, antiroll bars, washer jets for the light clusters) while missing
other equipment that the evented vehicles had (the jerry can holders on the
loadspace area sides, the doubledecker loadspace with securing straps, map
light for the co-driver, winch controller's plug on the center console's
side, Defender sunvisors etc)

But if it is a genuine limited edition for the Japanese market factory built
vehicle then it is even rarer than the evented vehicles.

I would propose you get in touch with the camel trophy owners club.
If you do not know how please let me know.

Take care
Pantelis

It does look like one of the copies, the roofrack is the wrong type, no
snorkel etc. http://www.cameltrophy.co.uk/ have a 1997 Mongolia Discovery
for sale. You could probably buy a 300TDi & trophy spec it yourself for a
lot less than 14K. They do look good though.

Pantellis is right: no "real" S-reg Camel Trophy vehicles were produced
and this one lacks rollcage, cut away wheel arches, etc. so this is a
Discovery Camel Trophy LE. (Also note the rooflamps are "wrong", not
Hella Rallye 1000s.)

They are quite interesting vehicles in themselves, and there are a
couple of LE owners who get involved in the Camel Trophy Owners Club.

I guess it depends wheat you are looking for. If you are interested in
the style, then the LEs are eye-catching vehicles, and easier to live
with than the ex-Camel Trophy vehicles. If you want a real piece of
Land Rover history, then the long search for the right ex-Camel Trophy
vehicle awaits!

Cheers
