So I serched around on the site but didn't turn up to much.

I found some theards about camber problems on one side or the other but not both together.

The problem I'm have is my 98 Disco has a -2.5 camber on both front tires. This is causing ready bad tire wear. Also it handles horrible at highway speeds

I took it to two shops. The first shop drove it around the block and looked under it. Then came back to me and said the axle is bent. They didn't even put it on a machine. Feeling like they didn't know what they were talking about I took it to a second shop. This shop did put it on a machine. After about an hour on it the tech told me they tried to adjust it but could not but completly fixed. I recently found out that the camber can not be adjusted. ( I never really thought about it) So I'm thinking that maybe because these shop usually deal with Honda and Toyota like cars that maybe they don't know rovers and there could be something else.

I find it hard to believe the axle could be bent. I don't do any off-roading in this truck at all.

I did find the the panhard rod was bent. (probably from previous owner) but that was fixed a while ago and I had no issues after this.

The most recent item replaced was shocks (heavy duty) It was after this I found the camber problem

sorry for being long winded but I want to make sure I post all the info I know.

Check the swivel ball/housings for play in the vertical plane.

Jack the axle and wobble the wheel, should be no play.

Get some pictures of your axle uploaded and we will check it for you :)
 
Oh, is yours disco td5 or 300tdi? 3.9 or 4.0 ?

Anyway if it is a disco 2 then it does not have swivel ball be it has ball joints on the knuckle. Could easily be loose/worn!
 
i had this on mine it turned out one of the holes on the swivel ball had worn into an egg shape but there was no rocking motion to be had when jacking the vehicle up it was only found on strip down

Fevs, so the housings needed to be replaced? If so is it an easy job?
 
I'd check the swivels, as said, but also the hubs/stub axle/wheel bearings ...

I'd also check the shock/spring turrets at the front, make sure the shocks are fitted correctly top and bottom and that the turrets are located correctly.
 
The only thing that's going to be able to give extreme bad camber and go undetected would be the swivels I reckon.

We need pics on this and it will be much easier.
 
The only thing that can affect the camber on series 1 discos is the swivel ball and housing.

Is it possible that larger tyres and wheels were fitted that have put extra forces into these. Have you had it long?

Replacing them is not a hard job, but first you should check for damage

Finally, pictures do help.
 
OK so here are some pics. There is some up and down play on the right wheel. The left wheel has hardly any play.

Can you see any marks on the left (your drivers side) swivel ball where the knuckle used to be and is now moved to another position?
 
Think I'd take the wheels off to have a better look ...
 
Wheels are coming off today. Just need to wait a couple hour for light. Once I get in there I'll get some better pics. Maybe someone will notice something I'm not
 
Looking at your photographs, the wear line on your swivels looks to be more angled than mine and others I have seen.

QUESTION TO ALL:
Can the swivels be accidentally reversed?
The upper and lower bearings being stopped accidentally - could these be the cause?
 
OK, so I'm having issues with the photos I took the other day. However I think I found the problem or at least one of the problems. After opening the hub I found the the nuts on the left side seemed loose and the nuts on the right were very loose. I was able to remove the nuts by hand with little effort.
I Figured I would get the nuts set to the correct tightness and recheck for play. If the play still exists move on to checking the housing. I have a spare axle with two housings that look good. I'll check the pin holes at work for round.

I'll try and get the photos up so everyone can see what I'm looking at. (Can't get the photos to transfer from my phone to laptop.)
