Hi everyone, just seeking some advice. Rang local Indy garage today to arrange new cambelt fitting and he,s advised a seal or gasket to the water pump is changed at the same time for an additional £50. Being a newbie no experience to fall back on so is this a general recommendation and is there anything else I should be doing while the belts being changed? Any advice greatly appreciated.

50 quid is a bit steep as he will be takin it off any way and the gasket is only a couple of quid:rolleyes:

Maybe that's a new water pump as well which would be a good idea

p gasket is totally different job from front timing cover removal £50 good price ,if you look at block directly behind alternator you will see staining if p gasket is leaking

Make sure that when the job is being done, not only the cambelt is replaced, but it's tensioner and idler are replaced as well.
