Hi All,

My Disco has started to make a warbling sounds under load which sounds like the water pump, have spoken to my mechanic who agrees.

I called this morning after dropping the landy off last night and he reackons 600 quid to replace the timing belt and the water pump which seems horrendously steep to me. He reackoned 7.5 hours to do both jobs.

Before i politely collect the Landy and find someone else to do the job i would be grateful for peoples thoughts. I've found the spares on the Paddocks Website

Water Pump Land Rover, Range Rover Parts & Accessories - Discovery, Defender and Freelander

Timing Belt
TIMINGKIT300L | Timing Belt Kit - 300TDI later type

They seems like a good deal. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

snigger sounds like a fine price, hell I'd do it for £50 less- why not do it yourself?

sadly im more at home stripping a server down or rebuilding a network rather than an engine :) What should i be paying for that sort of work?

local landy indi want £180 for timing belt..

water pumps on eblag £30..

as ya takin most of front off to do timing belt, shouldnt be much to swop pump whilst at it...

seems a bit pricey ,the later cam belt kit aint any good unless you have crank pulley with the guides not shown in your link, unless you already have it fitted, eventhough they are seperate jobs a good bit of water pump removal is done by removal of parts for cam belt job £200 plus parts would seem fairer

£40 for the kit and £25 for the pump off internet or locally more- google is your friend
